Accreditations are renewed on a cycle, so a date that has passed does not mean a qualification has stopped — it usually means the renewal is in progress. Call 012 771 7447 and we will tell you exactly where it stands.

Questions students ask

Is an N-certificate the same as a diploma?

No. N4, N5 and N6 are separate certificates. Once you hold all three and have completed 18 months of relevant practical work, you can apply to the DHET for the National N Diploma in that field.

What is the difference between an occupational qualification and a skills programme?

An occupational qualification is a full qualification with knowledge, practical and workplace components, usually 120 credits or more, ending in an external assessment. A skills programme is a shorter part-qualification, typically 20 to 60 credits, focused on one job-ready skill. Many skills programmes carry credits into the full qualification.

Will my certificate be recognised by employers?

Yes. Qualifications registered on the NQF and certified by the QCTO, Umalusi or the DHET are recognised nationally. The certificate is issued by the quality council, not by the college.

How do I check that this college is really accredited?

Look up our QCTO accreditation number SDP 1220/17/00144 with the QCTO, or search any qualification by its SAQA ID on the national register at regqs.saqa.org.za. Ask us and we will email you the certificate for any qualification you are interested in.

Can I get credit for work I have already done?

Recognition of Prior Learning is available on most occupational qualifications and skills programmes. We assess what you can already do and identify the gaps that still need training.

What is an Assessment Centre accreditation?

It means the QCTO has inspected our premises and approved us to conduct the final external assessments for those qualifications, not only to teach them. Students can be assessed here rather than travelling to another centre.

Where is Centrum Technical College?
